THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES
After proclaiming himself heir apparent to Callum's throne, Ash's plan's for world domination took a bit of a set back this week as he saw his team out-gunned in Europe by none other than Simon Stoker. These two veterans of last year's campaign switch places in the table and after being stuck in third place for the last three weeks, the Luke Perry All-Stars having finally advanced across the battlefield and captured top spot.
Mr Andrew Cole's hat-trick was the cornerstone of Simon's success and he was ably supported by Arsenal's Silvinho. Together they helped Luke Perry's team of actors achieve a very impressive score of 79. Good enough to claim top spot but not the highest of the week. That honour went to Billy's Boots. The Boot camp are sure to be delighted with their score of 82 as it took them back up the table to fourth place.
| By popular request, Mr Francis Jeffers. Easy, girls. |
But not everyone could celebrate in the same way. Several midfield generals saw their team fall by the wayside as they went over the top. None more so than Nity Raj, who returned to his losing ways of old. After climbing into the top ten, A Taste of the Raj were beaten over the head with big sticks and could only score a paltry 13 points once they'd recovered from the shock of actually being so high up. Some of them even had nosebleeds due to the altitude.
Another faller was Supersonic FC. The erstwhile leaders of the Dreamteam league now find themselves clinging on to a top ten place in desperation having dropped yet again. But the biggest loser of the week - although not in real life - was Dave and his Birmingham Shitty side. Having been bottom for the past few weeks, 1897- The Golden Year decided enough was enough and moved off to claim 25 spot, leaving the Birmingham crew in last place and Villa bottom of the pile yet again.
Ron had another good-ish week with one of his armies fighting the enemy at the front, another somewhere in the middle and the third near the foot of the table. So, what's the betting that every single one of his teams miss out on the spoils of war by one place?
This week sees the debut of the Worthington Cup and there's some more European action so I'm expecting a big score all round for each team…oh, unless you have an Ipswich Town player…losers.
