DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO SAN JOSE?
Globetrotter: Ron Voce

Burt Bacharach obviously had never met me when he wrote this song along with Hal David. If he had, he would have been told to turn left at San Francisco airport and head down Highway 101. However, after my recent stay in San Francisco for a Geek show (computer show for the uninitiated), I could add take the BART to Freemont and then the 180 express bus or the CalTrain. It's amazing what you learn when you go and see Aerosmith. See, heavy rock makes you more intelligent?

So what of the sports here in San Francisco what did they make of the FA Cup? How did it rank along side the 49'ers 12 wins out of 16 this season, who now make the long trip to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin in the first play off game of the post season?

Having spotted Ron in the crowd, it was every man for himself in the rush for the exits
In the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers had their own 8 page supplement, which was bigger than the normal 6 page sports section in which British Soccar was hidden away at the bottom of page C4 columns 2 and 3 amounting to a mighty 2 column inches.

In those inches I found out that Villa had lost to United, 2 to 3, and Cardiff had beaten Leeds 2 to 1 along with Cheltenham, Bristol Rovers and the Hammers' victories. However, how many Fanciscoans would have been interested in the Scottish Cup Third Round result 1 to 1 between Dundee and Falkirk? Interested enough maybe for the Chronicle to inform everyone that a 1 to 1 result is a tie!

But what of the Dreamteam Cup I hear you shout form 5,000 miles away. Who beat who? Who were our very own Cardiff? Were Duck United Giant killers or not? Have the transfers made any difference with Crumbs DM hold out to the end of the season or fall away like Duck United from a surprise challenger?

Unfortunately I can't tell you as I only have the table and not the results of the individual ties of the Dreamteam Cup (that's cos only two of the ties have been completed! - webmonkey) but from what I can see Keane As Mustard have closed the gap on Crumbs DM. What was 66 points last week is now down to 37 points. So are the mighty falling? Are Keane As Mustart the Manchester United of the Dreamteam? Is Mr Shah for all his Visual Basic skill going to come a cropper?

The race for the title looks between those two, although if the transfer market has played out who knows what a late run could put together. At this time of the season it's about form and consistancy and with everyone else over 100 points or more behind you could perm any 6 from 3rd down to 8th to get the two other European places. The Dreamteam Cup does get you the consolation of European football, but you don't want to miss out on the Champions League, which is where the real money is.

Down the table it's pretty much open money on who is playing the safe game and going for the fair play award there's is a definite group huddling together for warmth in the middle of the table, whilst at the bottom, it's got to be virtually all over for the wooden spoon. Previous winners A Taste of the Raj, having suffered a noise bleed last season, are back in their rightful place but are not doing badly enough to do well in the wooden spoon stakes, in which Duck Utd are trying their best to climb out of the mire.

That's it - the clock been run down and I've got to go. So remember the Packers to win with homefield advantage on Sunday against the 49 ers, Cardiff to be knocked out in the next round and Crumbs DM not to win the dreamteam.....we can but hope...

This is your action news reporter reporting live from San Francisco handing you back to reality.
